Dear Parents,
Next week is shaping up to be one filled with lots of activity! We’re excited about the Scholastic Book Fair and about our visiting author, Sheree Fitch. All EC & ES classes will be visiting the book fair during their regularly scheduled library periods on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The book fair is also open after school and students are welcome to visit at that time as long as they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. A schedule of the book fair is included with this newsletter.
On Friday, March 19, Sheree Fitch, our visiting author, will meet with all students in grades 1 to 5. Parents are welcome to stop by the elementary library to listen in if you wish.

The sessions are scheduled as follows:
8:15 - 4th grade
9:00 - 3rd grade
10:50 - 2nd grade
12:35 - 1st grade
2:00 - 5th grade

In the coming weeks we will be introducing some new procedures in an effort to improve the safety and efficiency of our dismissal process. I’ll be sending out a letter detailing our changes next week. In the meantime, if you have any    recommendations for us to consider in improving the dismissal process, please email them to me.

One thing that I want to mention to you is that traffic has increased quite dramatically on the street in front of the school.  The recent opening of the bridge that connects Nguyen Duc Canh with Nguyen Luong Bang has increased the flow of traffic passing SSIS, so everyone must   exercise more caution in crossing Nguyen Duc Canh. If you have been allowing your children to walk to and from school without adult supervision, I encourage you to be sure your children are accompanied by a responsible adult.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,
Gary Woodford
EC/ES Principal
