Dear Parents
Academic Concern and Academic Probation letters have been sent home Last Tuesday, we sent hardcopy letters home to those students are of Academic Concern or who are on Academic Probation. The intent of this process is to identify students whom are struggling academically and make sure that fact is clearly understood by the student and parents. The status of Academic Probation is particularly serious and requires action by parents and students to remedy the situation over a period of time. Please refer to the HS student handbook for these details. Mid-Term Exams are a month away It is hard to believe but our mid-term exams in the HS are not far away. If you are new to SSIS, let me explain our exam structure. All students in grades 9-12 are required to take mid-term and final exams in their core subject of mathematics, social studies, science, english, and modern world language. This exam is 20% of the semester grade in that subject. Exams are held in the HS gym according to a special exam schedule that will be made available very shortly. Ms. Isley, MS/HS Associate Principal, organizes the exams and can be contacted if you have any questions. During the exam period, regular classes for high school students will not be held but middle school classes continue as usual.
