Dear MS Parents,
The MS WWW trips in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades have all returned to SSIS safely. The trips all were successful and I would like to personally thank everyone whether they be students, parents, or teachers for this accomplishment. We sent 8 trips out over the past few weeks that involved 302 students and 28 teachers. It really depends on everyone to make such a large enterprise work well. Thanks again to all that helped
Important reminders:
1. Results of the fall MAP tests given to all students in grades 6-8 will be explained in a parent MAP session on Friday, October 14 right before our WWW Parent Showcase event. The meeting will begin at 12:45pm and will take place in the auditorium. Rhonda Isley, MS Associate Principal, will explain the results of this standardized test. Individualized results will be sent home with students on Monday, October 10 so please be looking for that from your son or daughter.
2. The MS WWW Parent Showcase event will take place at 1:30pm on Friday, October 14th in the auditorium. It is the culminating event of the MS WWW trips and will be a celebration of food, music, and other presentations. All middle school parents are encouraged and invited to be there. We will start the program in the auditorium at 1:30pm (the MAP meeting is at 12:45 - see previous item) and then break into grade level trip rooms after that.
3. The IB CAS Clothing Drive Fashion Show, which is a part of the IB CAS Clothing drive held a few weeks ago, will take place on Thursday, October 13 at 6:30pm in the SSIS auditorium. This event will be a showcase of the donations that were received for the benefit of Ain Linh orphanage and feature music, models, and fashion on the catwalk. The SSIS community is welcome to this event. This event will include some middle school students although it is being organized by HS students.
4. The end of the 1st quarter is October 14 with 1st quarter reports available on PowerSchool by October 28 (the October school break is stuck in between.)
5. The MS and HS Parent Teacher conferences will be held on November 3 and 4 in the ES/MS gym located inside the Middle School building. Conferences on November 3 will be from 4pm to 8pm and are intended for parents that cannot come to school easily during the school day. If you can come to school on November 4 between 8am - 2pm then you are encouraged to attend on this day. This will assist in balancing the number of conferences on the two days. There will be no classes for MS and HS students on Friday, November 4.
Other Reminders:
1. ID's are now required of all students in grades 6-12. Monday, Oct. 3 began tighter security measures at the school. Parents and caregivers can arrange for their SSIS ID cards at the reception desk, ground floor of the C building (just off the Plaza.)
2. MS Student Council will be sponsoring a MS Spirit Week for the week we return from October Break, Oct. 24-28.
3. MS Star Quest takes place on Friday, October 28 in the auditorium. More information is forthcoming. Note: The Halloween Carnival which has occurred at this time in the past will not take place this year

- MAP results/letters and school photos will be distributed to students in advisory class to take home to parents. The MS MAP parent information session will be at 12:45pm on Friday (right before the MS WWW Parent Showcase)
