All School Orientation Recap
Thank you so much for attending our first ever all-school orientation. We had a great time getting to know you and your children. We hope that you appreciated the opportunity to meet your child’s advisory, learn about some key communication tools, and take care of important school related business. We would love to receive your feedback. Is there a way we could improve? Something you appreciated that you wouldn’t want us to change? Please let us know through a simple email to Molly Burger, Middle School Principal (email@example.com).
One follow up from the Orientation, we are still waiting on a few forms to be returned. If you have not been able to return them to school yet, please take a minute this weekend to complete the form and send with your child on Monday. We are also waiting on a few passports and visa/resident cards. You can simply scan (or even take a photo) them and email them to Ms. Mai Anh Do (firstname.lastname@example.org). Thank you so much for your attention to these small details.
Basketball starts Tuesday, August 19
Fall sports are gearing up at SSIS. The first sport for Middle School is boys and girls basketball. Practice is from 3:10-4:30. Students received a sign up flyer this week. They can also sign up on line using their SSIS gmail account on the Athletic and Activities website. You can find a great deal of information about this season (and upcoming seasons). Be sure to take a look at the amazing assortment of activities available to your child.
After School Activities (ASA) coming
After seeking out student interest at the end of last year, we have been busy planning new ASA sessions. Online registration will begin August 25th for Session 1 of ASA. Session 1 runs from September 15 through November 14.
StuCo elections coming
Is your child interested in student government? We will be discussing the election process next week. Be on the look out for information regarding candidacy, campaigning, and elections coming soon.
First Middle School Principal’s Coffee
Thursday, September 4th is our first Middle School Principal’s Coffee. This session will focus on the key communication tools discussed during orientation. We will provide hands-on training for PowerSchool, Moodle, and Google Calendars. We will help ensure your login works properly, set up email notifications, link your calendars, and walk through the navigation of each site. This was an incredibly popular parent session last year. All participants left with a greater understanding of how these tools can help them support their children as learners.
Google Calendars … You can Subscribe!
With so much happening in a school year, it can sometimes be difficult to keep current. SSIS is pleased to announce that we have created Google Calendars of all events at SSIS. We recommend that you subscribe to these calendars so that the events show up in your personal digital calendar. We have placed directions on the SSIS Link under the title “Calendar iCal Links Parent Student.” Or you can simply click HERE to see the directions.
For Middle School, we recommend subscribing to the following calendars:
- MS Parent/Student Calendar
- MS Day Calendar
- MS Athletics and Activities
- AS Parent/Student Calendar (all school events)
We hope the start of school has been smooth, exciting, and fun for your child. Here are some things we saw around campus this week:
