HS eNews for week of 25 – 30 August

Dear Parents of HS Students,

We are off to a very exciting start to the new school year! I am very impressed and pleased with the high number of parents who attended the All School PTA meeting this morning, Friday the 22nd of August. The high number of parents speaks very well for prospects of strong attendance at PTA activities and events for 2014-15.

I was equally pleased and impressed by the computer literacy of the parents attending the HS meeting following the all-school PTA meeting. They demonstrated a high level of expertise in accessing information related to their son’s/daughter’s academic progress on Power School and Moodle.

The newly elected Student Council Class Representatives are as follows:

Grade 9 – Yeon Jin Jung and Giau Nguyen

Grade 10 – Jung Min Kim (Mark) and Yesol Kim

Grade 11 – Sabrina Lin and James Yang

Grade 12 – Sung Hun Cheong and Lee Sang Joon (Bob)

A very special thank you to our Student Council Officers for their excellent work and effort in organizing the elections of Student Council Class Representatives:

President: Han Sun Woo

Vice President: YeonSoo Park

Secretary: Jae Jin Sohn

Treasurer: Byung Kwon Kim

Club Expo is Monday 25th of August during lunch from 1:00 – 1:40 in the Plaza. The Expo provides students the opportunity to sign-up for After School Activities. Please help guide your son/daughter with their choice of activities to ensure that they maintain a “Balance in Life”.

Campaigning for Class Officers will take place on Monday to Wednesday, the 25-27 of August. Speeches and elections will take place in their Class Meetings on Thursday.

All school Writing Sample Testing will take place on Wednesday and Thursday mornings. 26 and 27 August. The testing is part of the school wide project to encourage writing across the curriculum.

1. Friday, the 29th of August is the final day for students to make changes in schedules. They are to see Ms. Bumpus or Ms. Hawken before Friday if they have any questions regarding their schedules.

2. Vietnamese classes for Vietnamese Nationals continue, on Saturday morning, 30 August, from 8:00 to 12:45. Attendance for Vietnamese Nationals is mandatory.

NOTE: The next Weekly Dragon, and all future Weekly Dragons will be moved to ”ANNOUNCEMENTS” on Moodle. This means that the Weekly Dragon will no longer be sent directly to students by email. Students are to take responsibility for checking Moodle frequently during the day for important Announcements as well as Subject Level Assignments. Parents may access the Weekly Dragon news by logging into Moodle and clicking on the Announcement tab.
