On Tuesday, 9 September, the first Principal’s Coffee Meeting was held for EC/ES parents. Approximately 40 parents gathered in the Multi-Purpose Room for a presentation entitled “Elementary Curriculum Framework: Strengthening a Bridge Toward the Future.” The first part of the presentation was conducted by Director of Curriculum Tina Fossgreen. She addressed the existing curriculum structures in place, with a focus on standards, benchmarks, assessments and unit design. The second part of the presentation was conducted by Elementary Principal Dan Keller. He addressed the opportunities to strengthen our curriculum through the process of developing a curriculum framework that focuses on the future. Each of the monthly Principal Coffee Meetings will focus on a different aspect of the curriculum and how we will start developing a framework for improvement. These meetings occur on the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 8:15 to 9:30 in the Multi-Purpose Room. Next month’s presentation is titled “Literacy: Expanding the Definitions” and includes guest presenter Alfredo Papaseit, Technology Learning Facilitator. Parents are encouraged to attend.
