HS eNews for September 29 – October 4

Dear Parents,

I have two items for your information this week:

PTA Potluck – The SSIS PTA is organising an International Potluck Dinner that will take place in the Auditorium on Tuesday, October 21 (5:00pm – 7:00pm). All parents of SSIS students are cordially invited to attend and to prepare national dishes to share with the community.  Please support the PTA and enjoy an evening of delectable cuisine by planning to attend the International Potluck Dinner.

HS Lock-in: The HS Student Council has organised a Lock-in scheduled to run from 8pm tonight, Friday, to 7am Saturday morning. The student council has been working very hard to carefully organise the event down to the last detail. I am very impressed with the results of their work. They have really left no stone unturned.

Basically, 91 students have signed up for the lock-in: grade 9 -31 students, grade 10 – 11 students, grade 11 – 29 students, grade 12 – 20 students. The students will be using two venues: MS gym for movies, table games, and sleeping; HS gym for basketball, volleyball, and sporting activities.

The HS school nurse, Ms. Lan, will be on duty the whole night. We have three shifts of chaperones for the lock-in:
8pm – 12pm  Nick Miller, Heather Mooney, Sophie Tsai, Ann Shea, John Kruk
12pm – 4am  Shelley Wowchuck, Ahn Nguyen, William Medina, Kathy Manuel, William Fossgreen, John Kruk
4am – 7am David Doty, Marcia Adams, Jeff Ratiff, William Medina, Rita McDermott, John Kruk

A special thank you the teachers for giving up part of their weekend to chaperone the event and to the SSIS PTA who have donated popcorn and soft drinks.

John Kruk
