Dear Parents,
From November 03, 2014, SSIS will be conducting scoliosis screening for seventh grade female students and eighth grade male students. Scoliosis is a curvature of the spine and can be detected through the screening for early appropriate treatment and effective prevention of progressive spinal deformity.
The screening procedure is simple and takes only a minute. The school nurse will check your child ‘s back in positions of standing and bending forward from front, back and sides. You will be notified in the event of suspected spinal curvature is found and your child needs to be re-evaluated by a physician.
If your child in under the treatment for spine deformity or you have any objections to having him / her participate in the program, please inform the school nurse by email not later than October 30, 2014.
