Dear Parents,

The week of 3 November to 8 November is the week that students in grade 9 and 10 have been looking forward to since August 11, the beginning of the current academic year: Week Without Walls commonly called WWW and not to be confused with the World Wide Web.  The purpose of the WWW is to provide an authentic opportunity for students to experience adventure, authentic service, and cultural exchange linked to the SSIS Core Values.

9th Grade: This year, the entire 9th grade will be traveling to Bintan, which is an island in the Riau archipelago of Indonesia. It is part of the Riau Islands province, the capital of which, Tanjung Pinang, lies in the island’s south and is the island’s main community . Students will stay at the LooLa Resort located on the south-eastern side of the island. This trip will allow the entire grade to travel together with their class advisors.

10th Grade: This year, the entire 10th grade will be traveling to the “The Historic State” of Malacca, Malaysia. It is located in the southern region of the Malay Peninsula, next to the Straits of Malacca. It is 148 kilometres (92 miles) south east of Malaysia’s capital city Kuala Lumpur and the city has has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 7 July 2008.

School Photos for students in grades 11 and 12: While students in grades 9 and 10 are on Week Without Walls, school photos for students in grades 11 and 12 will be taken during students’ study periods. Juniors and seniors will report to studies and then to the area outside the school nurse’s room on the ground floor of the High School Building during their study period on Tuesday or Wednesday. One photo wearing the school uniform will be taken of juniors; whereas, two photos will be taken of Seniors: one wearing the school uniform and one taken wearing the graduation gown. White shirts are to be worn under the graduation gown. Make-up photos will be taken on Thursday, 6 November.

Have a nice week !
