Celebrating Teachers Day, Thursday, November 20th

    Dear SSIS Community –

As an international school, we come together as students, teachers and families from all over the world and it seems that each culture and country celebrates the contributions of teachers on a different day. While we value and respect all these traditions, at SSIS we celebrate Teachers Day in line with the Vietnamese calendar and have planned our special day for Thursday, 20 November 2014.

At SSIS we do not have the culture of gift giving which is sometimes associated with Teachers Day in some areas of the world. Rather, we believe it is a wonderful and thoughtful gesture on the part a student to write a note to his or her teachers and deliver these notes on Teachers Day.

One of the most highly anticipated events on Teachers Day at SSIS is the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon which is organized by our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). For days leading up to the event, we hear stories of all the wonderful dishes from last year which represented the many nations represented by our families. For days afterwards, we can hardly stop talking about how talented our parents are in their culinary creations. If you would like to participate in this event, there is a PTA signup for the luncheon which can be found here.

    Sincerely yours,

    Mark Sylte, Head of School
