ES Art for youngest students

Hello my name is Marjon Barton and I am teaching Art to the EC and Kindergarten students this year.

The Art Room is usually a busy place and these last couple of months, the 3, 4 and 5 year-olds have created many wonderful pieces of art. There is not much wall and ceiling space left to display their happy, colorful masterpieces. Next time, on your way to the Elementary Library, do make sure to stop by the Gallery Space to have a look. In the Art Room there is only one rule we have to follow, and that is to be busy with our hands. Young children learn best by experimenting and exploring, and are not necessarily interested in creating a finished product. We sure do a lot of exploring and working together! To help my students develop their skills and be successful, I like them to create art where everyone can work together for as long as they are interested. It is exciting to see how a piece of art changes from day to day and week to week.

Every year we celebrate our students accomplishments by displaying their colorful art all around the school. Keep your calendars free for the official opening of our Elementary Art Exhibition some time in June. You will receive more info as we get closer to the date.
