Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research 2014

HCMC’s annual Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research is coming up, and you’re invited!

The Terry Fox Run began as “The Marathon of Hope” in 1980. After being diagnosed with cancer, 18 year-old Terry dreamed of raising 1 million dollars for cancer research by running across Canada…on one leg. He ran 26 miles (a marathon) every day – pledging every donation to help find a cure for cancer. Sadly, he never had the opportunity to complete his run, but every year, participants in over 30 countries continue it, raising money for cancer research.

tfrunning“Even if I don’t finish, we need others to continue. It’s got to keep going without me.”

To take part in continuing Terry’s Dream of finding a cure for cancer here in HCMC, donate any amount at the table in the High School Atrium from 7:40-8:10, and 2:50 to 3:30 from the 24th to the 28th of November. The run begins at 8:00 A.M. on Sunday, November 30th, on Tan Trao St, Phu My Hung (Beside the Parkson Paragon). There’s no minimum amount to register, and you can run, walk, bike/rollerblade, etc.

If you’re interested, high quality dry-fit T-shirts are also for sale at the registration table for VND 200,000, with all proceeds going towards cancer research.

Thanks for helping to finish the work that Terry started over 30 years ago! We’ll see you on the run!
