This month’s presentation will focus on mathematics in the elementary division. Math/Science Coach Shane Sullivan will discuss the differences between procedural knowledge and conceptual knowledge. We will look at how SSIS teachers instruct with a balance of these two forms of knowledge and ways parents can assist students at home using a similar balance. Finally, we will examine the role of language and communication skills in mathematics. This presentation will provide parents with helpful resources they may use with their children at home to support their mathematical learning.
