We are very exited to host Student Led Conferences for the Middle School at SSIS. Student Led Conferences will be held on Thursday, April 2 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM and Friday, April 3 from 8:00AM to 2:00PM. Your child will need to attend the conference with you, so please select accordingly.
Purpose of Student Led Conferences:
Student Led Conferences are an alternative to traditional parent teacher conferences that enable the student to take the stage front and center in the discussion about his/her progress and achievement. Student Led Conferences provide an opportunity for students to reflect on their work; talk about strengths and areas of challenge; and led a conversation with their parents about next steps. This type of conference puts the focus on the student by having the student talk about how he or she has grown and changed over the year; identify accomplishments and struggles; reflect on who he or she is as a learner. The conversation at the conference is between the student and the parent, not the parent and the teacher.
What Parents do at Student Led Conferences:
Parents will join their child at the conference table as partners. They will ask their child questions about what they hear and will attempt to see school through the eyes of their child.
How Do I Register for Student Led Conferences:
An email was sent to all parents with sign up information on March 23rd. That information is repeated here:
Please contact Ms. Mai Anh in the Middle School Office if you have any difficulty sign up for a conference time. We are striving for 100% attendance. If the dates of the conferences do not work for you, we will try to arrange a time on a different day as needed.
