Dear SSIS Families –

What a wonderful Family Fun Day we had this past Saturday (September 12th). After a long bout of rain these past couple of weeks, rain which has returned this morning, the sun opened up and gave us a day full of sunshine and the occasional cooling breezes.

Last year we moved to organize many of our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) events around individual passport communities at SSIS. Last Spring the Vietna1M0A9938mese community took the lead in organizing our second-semester Family Fun Day and the Indian community at SSIS took on the book sale to raise money for the libraries.

This fall our Korean community took over the Fall-term Family Fun Day and added their special innovations to the day. We would like to thank both Dunkin’ Donuts and Saigon Van who sponsored some of the booths and activities for the day. The maze of boxes put together by Saigon Van, along with the transportation race, provided endless fun for our younger students and who doesn’t love Dunkin’ Donuts and coffee. The long tend in the back field added a nice shaded area for parents to be able to sit and enjoy food and drinks from the vendors surrounding them.

It was wonderful to see our high school students out in force, too, raising money for the many charities to which they donate their time outside of school.

We all owe a huge “thank you” to our Korean parents for organizing such a wonderful time, enjoyed by so many students, teachers,  and parents. We are so grateful for your hard work.

Mark Sylte, Head of School
