ES: Roxanne Amor-Ross appointed Interim Elementary School Assistant Principal for 2016-2017 school year

132

Dear Elementary Parents,

As you may or may not be aware, our Elementary School Assistant Principal, Barbara Reynolds, has not been able to return to school this year because of her husband’s serious health issues in the United States.  As a school, we continue to extend support to their family, and we are relieved that they are surrounded by long-time friends and family.

With 469 students and more than 90 adults, the elementary school has pressing issues of supervision, planning, and leadership.  With the school year well under way, the elementary school has felt the on-going absence of an assistant principal. Therefore, our school recently decided to search for an Interim Elementary School Assistant Principal to meet these needs for the 2016-2017 school year.

After a thorough internal and external search process, we have offered the position to Roxanne Amor-Ross and she has accepted this interim position for the 2016-2017 school year. Ms. Amor-Ross has a variety of qualifications and experiences that made her an outstanding candidate for this position.  There will be a period of carefully-planned transition as Roxanne moves out of the classroom and into her new role. We are grateful that Andy Burger, a certified teacher known to our community as a coach, substitute teacher, and teaching intern is able to assume Roxanne’s former position as a Grade 2 classroom teacher.

Looking forward to next year, our school has already begun a world-wide search for a permanent Elementary School Assistant Principal.  Highly qualified and experienced candidates have already begun to apply.  We will keep our community informed of our progress in our search for a permanent Elementary School Assistant Principal.

A community’s strength lies, in part, in the collegiality of its members. We appreciate your support and understanding as we move through these important transitions.  Please join us in congratulating both Roxanne Amor-Ross and Andy Burger on their appointments for the 2016-2017 school year.
Sincerely yours,

Daniel J. Keller, PhD
Elementary School Principal
