MS / HS Parent Teacher Conferences; Oct. 13 and 14

The end of 1st Quarter is Wednesday, October 5, 2016.  It’s hard to believe that we are already 1/4 through the school year.  This is an important time to check in with your child about their progress so far this year.  The quarter grade is a representation of their work in the first half of the semester.  This is not a permanent grade (with the exception of 6th Grade Exploratory which is a quarter length class).  These quarter grades will continue to change over the rest of the semester.  It is the semester grade that is recorded for their report cards and transcripts.  The first semester ends Dec. 16th.

fall-ptc-2014SSIS is hosting Parent Teacher Conferences on Thursday, Oct. 13 (4-8pm) and Friday, Oct. 14 (8am-1pm) for middle and high school parents and students in the Bldg A (middle school) gym.  These conferences give each parent an opportunity to talk directly with teachers about their child’s progress. Students will have an early dismissal on Thursday and no school on Friday due to these conferences.

The conference style for middle and high school parents and students is an open arena style conference.  This means that no appointments are needed.  We hope that all students will attend with their parents.  However, parents do not have to bring their children if that is not possible.  We are hoping for 100% attendance on the part of parents.

In planning your time, it will take approximately 1.5 hours per child to speak with all teachers (each child has 8 teachers).  The busiest conference time will be Thursday evening.  If you can attend on Friday, you will experience significantly less wait time.

If you have any questions about conferences, please contact Ms. Sang in the middle school office. We are looking forward to talking with you about your child’s progress so far this year.
