Starting the Elementary School Year

July 26, 2017

Dear Elementary Parents,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year.  We hope that your family has enjoyed the summer months and your children are eager for the start of school.  During the summer, we have been preparing for a great school year.

When you walk on campus, you will notice a number of facilities improvements.  Some examples include improvements in landscaping, a cafe at the entrance of the school, the school bookstore at the entrance of the school, a new classroom on the fourth floor of the elementary building, two pilot classrooms in grade 3 with expanded lighting and flexible furniture, an updated entrance to the early childhood area, and a shade pavillion on the elementary playground area.

As the school year begins, you will notice a number of educational improvements.  Some examples include the implementation of four SuperUnits this year, distribution of SuperUnit brochures to parents before each SuperUnit, and an exciting experience in the winter called “Project X.”

Attached to this letter are some documents that will be helpful as you prepare your child for starting the new school year:

    • Important Dates for Start of School: This shows the date, time, event, and notes for events for all grades, as well as events for specific grades.
    • New School Year Orientation: This event is on August 8 for all returning and new students and parents.
    • Preparations Checklist: This is the list of tasks to be accomplished by families during the August 8 orientation during the “school year preparations”.

We look forward to seeing you at the New School Year Orientation.

Sincerely,

Daniel J. Keller, PhD
