HS Parent/Teacher Conferences and Principal’s Coffee: Oct 19 & 20

48

The end of 1st Quarter is Friday, October 6, 2017. It’s hard to believe that we are already 1/4 through the school year and report cards will be sent to parents when we return from our October break.   This is an important time to check in with your child about their progress so far this year.  The first quarter grade represents all of the student’s work between August and October 5th.  Quarter 2 starts on October 16th and ends on December 15th.  The first semester grade that is reported on transcripts to universities after the conclusion of semester 1 on December 15

SSIS is hosting Parent Teacher Conferences on Thursday, Oct. 19 (4-8pm) and Friday, Oct. 20 (8am-1pm) for  high school parents and students in the Bldg C (high school) gym.  These conferences give each parent an opportunity to talk directly with teachers about their child’s progress. Students are encouraged to attend these conferences with their parents.  Students will have an early dismissal on Thursday and no school on Friday due to these conferences.

The conference style for high school parents and students is an open arena style conference.  This means that no appointments are needed.   We are hoping for 100% attendance on the part of parents.

In planning your time, it will take approximately 1.5 hours per child to speak with all teachers (each child has 8 teachers).  The busiest conference time usually is Thursday evening.  If you can attend on Friday, you will experience significantly less wait time.

We are also hosting a MS/HS Principal’s Coffee before conferences on Thursday, October 19 titled “Getting the Most from Parent Teacher Conferences”.  This will be held in MPR on the 4th floor of the HS building from 8:15-9:15 am.  The main purpose of this coffee is to provide you with the best tools to find success in the arena style conferencing.  We hope you can attend.

If you have any questions about conferences, please contact Ms. Huyen in the high school office.  We are looking forward to talking with you about your child’s progress so far this year.

We look forward to seeing you,

Jacob Hendrickson
HS Principal
