This coming week is a big week for the middle school. To start the week, we have author and spoken word poet Luka Lesson visiting SSIS on Monday-Wednesday. On Monday, the entire MS will get to see Luka perform. On Wednesday, all students will be attending grade level workshops with Luka where he focused on the writing of poetry and teaches them a few tricks of spoken word as well as. The students are sure to love their time with Luka.

On Thursday, we host the MS Principal Coffee from 8:15-9:15. We are so excited to have Mrs. Bonnie Bertoia, MS Counselor, back with us. She will be leading the coffee that is focused on Parenting Your Teen. How do parenting roles shift as our children age? How can we best support our children during the difficult middle school years? Come join us on Thursday, Nov. 9 to talk, laugh, and share ideas.

Following up on this week’s series of SISAC competition, we are hosting the MS MRISA Basketball tournament. Teams from around the region representing 8 schools from 4 countries will be arriving on Thursday evening. Host families will be eagerly awaiting their arrival, getting them settled and then back to school on Friday, Nov. 10 for the Opening Ceremony and first games of the tournament. MS students will all have a chance to kick off the tournament in proud SSIS fashion at the Opening Ceremony that starts at 8:00 in the SSIS auditorium. SSIS teams play at 9:10, 10:20, 12:40, 3:00 (both boys and girls), and at 5:20 on Friday. We hope that students, parents, and community members come join in the fun and help support the teams! Game times on Saturday are based on the outcome of Friday’s games. We will post the times SSIS will play as soon as we know. You can also follow the games via live streaming on the MRISA Tournament website.
