PTA Coffee and New Parent Orientation were held on Friday, August 22nd.  Thank you to all the parents who attended this event.  We shared information about PowerSchool, Moodle, and School Calendars.  We highlighted that all of these programs have apps or can be subscribed to so that information is sent directly to your phone. Coming Events: Next week the Middle School will host Back to School Night on Thursday, August 28th from 6-7:30.  Parents and students are invited to attend.  The night will begin with a presentation in the Auditorium.  Following the presentation, parents and students will move from class to class meeting teachers and learning about the curriculum.  We hope to see you and your children there. On Wednesday and Thursday next week, all Middle School students will participate in the Fall Writing Sample.  On Wednesday, students will create their first draft.  On Thursday, students will revise and complete their final draft.  This writing will be analyzed using the writing continuum.  The data we collect will be used to help us design instruction specifically targeted to our students’ strengths and needs. On Wednesday next week, students will be given information about ASA offerings for the year.  Students will be sent home with descriptions of the Season 1 offerings.  Parents are requested to look this over and help their children select activities of interest.  Students can register online starting Wednesday night on the Athletics and Activities website. Next week also brings us our Student Council class representative elections.  3 representatives will be elected for each grade level.  Information can be found on the Moodle announcements as well as in an email sent to students.  This is an excellent way to get involved in student government.
