Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are excited about the upcoming Student-Led Conferences (SLC)! They will be held at school, and you and your child will attend together.

Student-Led Conferences will be held:

  • Thursday, March 30, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm
  • Friday, March 31, from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm
  • Your conference will last approximately 30-45 minutes

Registration for SLCs is now open. Please book your appointments by 3:00 pm on Friday, March 24 via SchoolsBuddy.

If you do not have a SchoolsBuddy account or have lost your password, please see SSIS Link for more information. Your SchoolsBuddy account must be activated before you can schedule appointments.

Why Student-Led Conferences?

Student-Led Conferences allow your child to speak about their growth and change, identify accomplishments and struggles, and reflect on teacher feedback. It is an important opportunity for them to take responsibility for discussing their progress and achievements

The dialogue at a student-led conference is between the student and the parent. So, although the conference will include information from your child’s teachers, your child will choose what to present as they reflect on their learning together with you.

Parents should view their role as partners and try to see the school through the eyes of their child. Being encouraging and curious can help to create a meaningful discussion with your child.

Attending the conferences is an important opportunity for you to understand how to best support your child in making positive adjustments or changes, if needed, which will affect their transcript grades at the end of the semester. We urge you to not miss this important opportunity.

Progress Report and Grades

During the conference, you will view and discuss report card comments with your child. You will receive your child’s full mid-semester progress report after all of the conferences are over on March 31. Please keep in mind that mid-semester grades are grades in progress. They will not show on your child’s transcript

The SSIS Middle School has a 100% attendance goal for student-led conferences. We have met that goal each year and are excited to continue this strong connection between student, parent, and school.

We are really looking forward to seeing you!

Best,

Molly Burger
Middle School Principal
