Dear Parents of Saigon South International School,
A very warm welcome to the 2018-2019 school year to our new and returning families! I am very proud to serve as the Head of Saigon South International School. These are exciting times for the school and I am delighted for the opportunity to build on a strong foundation of 20 years and to be taking the School to the next level of excellence.
Let me begin by introducing myself! I have served as an educator for over three and a half decades. Beginning initially as a teacher and Technology Coordinator in Ireland, I then served as Principal of K-9 at Nishimachi International School in Tokyo. Following that, I started a 17-year career at Taipei American School in Taiwan, serving as the Lower School Principal, and then Deputy Head of School. As Principal, I was honored to receive the “National Distinguished Principal of the Year” by the National Association of Elementary Principals and the USA State Department.
I have a B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Limerick, Ireland; a M.Ed. in Educational Administration from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia; and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of San Diego, California.
My husband Gerry and I have two sons, Jack and Tommy, currently attending college in Australia. They both benefited from an international/American education similar to that being enjoyed by your children.
I have a strong background in strategic planning, literacy development, STEM integration, KA-12 curriculum articulation, professional development, assessments, and facilities development. In addition, I led the Wellness Initiative at Taipei American School. I hope that by utilizing all of these skills and experience and working together with the outstanding SSIS Board of Directors, the strong leadership team, the excellent faculty and staff, and with you, we can make SSIS the best educational environment yet; one that allows every student to thrive and every one of our parents to rejoice in their selection of SSIS for their children.
I look forward to getting to know you and your children. I hope you will take the time to introduce yourselves to me at the many beginning-of-school events. I have an open door policy and I welcome any opportunity to meet with you.
