It is with great pleasure that we announce that Jennifer Mendes has accepted our offer as new High School Principal, and will become a part of our leadership team in the Fall of 2020.

With 10 years of high school leadership experience, veteran international educator Mrs. Mendes will be a strong addition to our High School. A thoughtful and action-oriented leader, Mrs. Mendes has an in-depth understanding of both the AP & IB programs. She believes that students’ academic and social-emotional well-being should be a school’s priority.

During the two-day interview process, parents, students and High School teachers alike, found her to be knowledgeable, collaborative and committed to student achievement and well-being. They were impressed with her insights into higher education throughout Asia and the world, and her in-depth understanding of helping students find their best-fit university.

Mrs. Mendes completed graduate studies in educational leadership with an emphasis on curriculum and instruction, leading to principal licensure at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. She completed an MA in Spanish Language and Literature at Purdue University and holds her teaching license from the state of Colorado. Mrs. Mendes has a BA in Spanish Language and Culture, and a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Northern Colorado.

Mrs. Mendes’ husband, Daniel, is an exceptional Technology Integration Specialist and has worked in Shanghai, Dubai, Johannesburg, and Moscow. The Mendes’ have two children, one in Grade 2 and the other in EC.

The Board and Administration would like to thank the entire SSIS community for their participation during our search. Teachers, students, parents, and administrators all gave generously of their time during the selection and interview stages, and our community’s feedback played a vital role in this process.

Sincerely,

Dr. Catriona Moran
