Head of School Update, April 24: Virtual School Survey and New Social Distancing Directives

658

Dear SSIS Parents,

As you may have read, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee letter #1490/UBND-VX has released new directives, easing certain social distancing measures, based on the recent announcement from Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. The ability to ease restrictions is a true testament to the effective measures that the Vietnamese government has taken to ensure our health and safety during this pandemic.

Although the directives maintain limitations on entertainment, beauty care, and fitness-related businesses – such as gyms, spas, and cinema, and also limits gatherings to no more than 20 people, one can already notice a vibrant buzz in the air as people regain hope that we may slowly begin to move in another direction.

The directive states that the previously outlined measures of using masks in public places and at work, hand-washing, and maintaining a safe distance of 2 meters from others, remain in place. As does limiting ourselves to going out, unless necessary. If we continue to follow these measures as diligently as we have, let’s hope that we can all be reunited soon.

At this time, we are awaiting confirmation from the People’s Committee on a possible reopening of schools in May. In the interim, schools in HCMC have received a comprehensive set of criteria for ensuring a high level of health and safety of all campuses. Of course, as you have come to expect, SSIS will ensure that we meet or exceed the expectations as outlined by the Vietnamese Government.

Feedback from Parents

Throughout recent months, your feedback has been invaluable in ensuring that we are responding to your children’s needs, your needs, and the needs of the community. At this time, in order to continue improving your child’s learning experience, regardless of the environment (physical or virtual), I hope that you will take this opportunity to give us your feedback on this survey before Tuesday, April 28 at 5:00 pm.

Our teachers will continue to deliver to support students in any way possible, in addition to delivering our high-quality online learning environment, Virtual School, until we are able to return to campus.

I wish you all a safe, healthy, and family-filled weekend.

All good wishes,

Dr. Catriona Moran
