Head of School Update, August 11: Meeting Opportunities and Recording Follow-Up

    52

    Dear SSIS Parents,

What a wonderful evening of parent orientations last night! I was so happy to see so many of you and officially welcome you to the new school year.

I’d like to thank all of our parents who were able to attend the Virtual School follow-up session that we held Monday to address your questions and listen to your feedback. I truly appreciate the time so many of you took to offer constructive ideas on how we can continue to enhance our program in the survey and during the session.

Meaningful dialogue is one of the pillars of a strong community. During this semester, you can expect invitations to other community meetings and opportunities for discussion, which we will offer in multiple languages.

In case you could not attend Monday’s session, it is now available to watch here.

Hosting large interactive parent meetings on Zoom is new to all of us. During our session, some parents were unintentionally muted and unmuted. Naturally, we want everyone to have an opportunity to share their opinion and be heard.

We will work to improve our guidelines for Q&A before our next Zoom conversation. If, however, you felt that you were not heard or have any other feedback regarding the meeting, please do not hesitate to contact me.

EC/KG parents, please check your inboxes for an invitation to a Zoom session with the Elementary School team and me this Friday during your children’s naptime. The session will also be recorded for those who cannot attend.

Weekly Zoom Conversation with Head of School

Starting next week and throughout Virtual School, I will hold weekly small-group Zoom sessions on Fridays at 10:00 am for you to continue sharing your ideas and feedback. We will send out an invitation and a sign-up every Wednesday.

To encourage conversation, we will limit the number of participants to 20 in these weekly sessions. However, if we need to offer additional times to accommodate interested parents, we are happy to do so.

In closing, I’d like to say how happy it has made us all to see your children’s smiling faces these first few days of school. Elementary families and teachers enjoyed getting to know each other during half-hour “family conversations.” And all students have been excited to meet their new classmates and teachers during engaging lessons and opportunities for connection.

We’re off to a great start, and I thank you for your valuable partnership.

    All best wishes,

    Dr. Catriona Moran
    Head of School
