Important Survey on Vaccination Data for Students Ages 12 – 18

    213

    Dear SSIS Parents,

I hope that this email finds you well. Today’s message is related to COVID19 vaccinations for children aged 12 and older. Although we do not have an estimated timeline for when vaccinations will be administered to children in HCMC, we want to ensure that our community is prepared.

In Vietnam, vaccines are only approved for children 12 years of age and older, and SSIS is working with authorities and community members to explore how parents can access vaccines for their children.

We know that in addition to health and safety measures (5K), receiving the COVID-19 vaccine is the most important measure that we can take to ensure our children stay healthy and well. And we want to support our community when the opportunity arises.

    Your Help Is Needed

To ensure that we have the most up-to-date information on your child when the authorities initiate the vaccination program for students (12 – 18), we will be sending out a survey to all parents. We need your help and your urgent action.

When the time comes, we will be required to submit your child’s name, date of birth, health insurance number, passport / ID number, address, phone number, and current vaccination status. The information you submit will help the hospital or vaccination center determine the number of doses required and ensure that your child’s vaccine records are accurate.

Survey for SSIS Students Ages 12 – 18

Later today, Health Office Manager Lisa Chute will send parents one survey for each of their children between the ages 12 and 18 who attend SSIS. Children under 12 years old will not receive a survey, as the government has not approved vaccinations for children under 12.

The survey should be completed for all children ages 12 – 18 at SSIS, even if the child has already been vaccinated. It will inform the school who is and who is not vaccinated, and who may not wish to have their child vaccinated for various reasons.

The information that you provide in the survey will be submitted to the relevant authorities when requested.

Vaccination Information Session, Week of October 25

After the Fall Break, we will hold an information session on vaccinations. It will occur during the week of October 25, and Dr. Phi from International SOS will present the current status on vaccinations in HCMC. The session will be presented in Vietnamese and English. Please keep an eye out for further details.

In closing, I want to wish you all a peaceful and well-deserved Fall Break. I hope that you enjoyed productive and informative parent-teacher conferences this week, and that your children will have the opportunity to relax and recharge over the coming week.

    All good wishes,

    Dr. Catriona Moran
    Head of School
