(G9–12) Annual Health Screening for HS Students, December 19 – 21

146

Dear High School Parents,

We will be conducting Annual Health Screenings for high school students on Monday, December 19 – Wednesday, December 21 during Study Hall blocks.

These screenings are done per government requirements to assess your child’s growth and identify possible factors that could impact their learning. The high school nurses will measure each child’s height, weight, BMI (body mass index), vision, blood pressure, and pulse.

Please note that these health screenings are not intended to diagnose any medical conditions. They should not replace your child’s annual physical check-up.

You will receive a complete report of your child’s health screening results within four weeks of their screening date. If you are concerned about any of the findings on the report, please book a consultation with a doctor for further assessment.

The screening of each student will include:

  • BMI screening: Height and weight will be calculated using the CDC – BMI calculator for children and teens.
  • Distance-vision screening: Distance vision will be assessed using a standard 10-foot (~ 3-meter) eye chart with letters or symbols. (See examples here).
  • Near-vision screening: A 16-inch (~ 40 cm) card will be used to check students’ vision. (See examples here).

Students who do not have Study Hall should go to Room C220 on Wednesday, December 21 from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm for their health screening.

Please remind your child not to miss this screening and to bring their glasses (if any) to wear while we check their vision.

If you have any special requests for your child’s health screening, or if you do not wish your child to take part in this program, please contact me, the HS nurse, at hsnurse@ssis.edu.vn or 028 5413 0901, ext 31001, before Thursday, December 15.

Sincerely,
Nurse Loan
