Head of School letter: Invitation to Coffee with Dr. Moran

    Dear SSIS Parents,

The first five weeks of school have been exceptionally positive and productive! Recently, I visited with parents in Kindergarten during their regular Friday morning activity. I was reminded of how fortunate our children are to be supported by parents who value their children’s intellectual and personal development, a cornerstone of our school’s philosophy, as they grow in a caring and challenging environment.

Last week, college admissions representatives from Princeton, Duke, Columbia, Northwestern, and other great universities, came to Vietnam to visit just one school – SSIS. All of them were impressed by how well our school is preparing students from the very first day of Early Childcare and all the way through High School.

In their sessions, the college admissions representatives told parents and students what these top-tier schools look for in applicants. Successful candidates, they explained, have a balance between rigorous high school courses and interests outside of the classroom such as athletics, arts, and volunteering, reaffirming the core values of our school.

Last year, during my first year as your Head of School, we initiated “Coffee with Dr. Moran” sessions. I am so grateful for the parents who joined me and would like to invite all of our parents to join the new round of coffee sessions that will take place soon, as we have much that we wish to share and discuss with parents.

Just as last year, the sessions will be held in English, Vietnamese, Korean, and Chinese, to best serve our community’s four major language groups. As we are limited to 50 spots per session, I encourage you to sign up on the sign-up sheet here, as soon as possible. You can even submit questions you’d like to address, in the sign-up sheet.
