October 10 & 11: HS Parent-Teacher Conferences

636

This year, High School Parent-Teacher Conferences (PTC) will be held on Thursday, October 10 and Friday, October 11. Like last year, the PTCs will be appointment-based. This means you must schedule appointments to meet with your student’s teachers.

We encourage you to book your appointments as soon as possible. Otherwise, you may experience some extended wait times between appointments.

Appointments are on a first come first serve basis

Why Do I Need to Schedule Appointments to Meet with My Child’s Teachers?

Last Spring was the first time we used appointment-based Parent-Teacher Conferences in High School. Surveys showed that parents and teachers were very positive about the new format.

Appointments in a private environment encourage more meaningful discussions about student performance and provide ways for parents to support their children in the process.

What are the Exact Dates and Times of the High School Parent-Teacher Conferences?

High School Parent-Teacher Conferences (PTC) will be held:

  • Thursday, October 10,  2 – 7 pm
  • Friday, October 11, 9 am -1 pm

Parents will be able to make 10-minute appointments with the teachers that they are most interested in meeting. The appointments will take place in the teachers’ classrooms, with a few exceptions (see below).

Other Scheduling Considerations

This year, we have adjusted the schedule to make it easier for parents that have students in both MS and HS, and you will notice slightly different times between the MS and HS.  The following teachers work in both middle school and high school, so appointments with them will vary slightly.

  • Erin Lu (Mandarin)
  • Nathan Larson (Art/Grade 6 Drama)
  • William Medina (Spanish)
  • Lisa Swiercinsky (Drama)

On Thursday, October 10 (8 am – 1 pm) you will need to schedule an appointment if you wish to see any of these four teachers, according to the process described above.

On Friday, October 11, these four teachers will be found in the ES/MS gym from 8 am – 1 pm, for the MS Parent-Teacher Conferences, and will not require a scheduled appointment to meet.
