Head of School Letter: Construction Update 1: First Steps Taken

    165

    Dear SSIS Parents,

We are very excited to inform you that the first tangible evidence of the new construction projects is visible on the campus this week.

In preparation for the licensing process, soil testing is being conducted on two different sites. These areas will be closed off this week for students, but rest assured there is no impact on your child’s learning or safety.

Over the past 18 months, Flansburgh Architects have been working closely with all stakeholders on the school’s master plan, the plan for how our facilities are further developed to best support the academic and programmatic needs of both students and the community.

Flansburgh has also been working with our stakeholder representatives on the new Middle School building and our new STEAM/Design Center. The design for the new Middle School building is being finalized, and over the next few months, we will refine and finalize the STEAM/Design Center with the valuable input of many of you.

We wouldn’t be celebrating these first steps without the gracious support of our Board, and I’m so grateful that they value the importance of providing our students with the best facilities and the best opportunities possible.

We will continue to keep you informed every step of the way as we design and create learning spaces that will allow us to provide the programs and opportunities our students need to become the leaders of tomorrow.

If you have any observations, questions, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

    All good wishes,

    Dr. Catriona Moran
    Head of School
