Dear SSIS Parents,
I am pleased to share that SSIS has signed a contract with VICONS Construction Company to build our new Middle School and STEAM/Design Center buildings.
Earlier this week, the first bulldozer appeared behind the hoarding and was joined yesterday by a yellow construction crane. Both in preparation for the piling that will soon begin.
But before that starts, we have been notified that tomorrow demolition of the old walkway in the new STEAM/Design Center area will begin on the river side of our campus. This demolition work will last through September 19.
Although we should expect some noise from the construction site between September 15 and September 19, the work will only commence at 3:30 pm once the school day is over to minimize the impact on our community.
In the weeks to come, you can also expect to receive information about our Construction Safety Committee, led by Associate Head of School WaiMun Fong, as we seek parent representation to ensure communication and collaboration needs about our safety measures are met throughout the construction process.
It’s fascinating to watch events unfold, and we will be capturing all stages of the construction projects on time-lapse cameras and look forward to sharing the progress with you all.
