(G9-12) Week Without Walls, Update 5

625

As the Week Without Walls comes to a close, each grade level goes into the weekend with a new sense of community. And that is the token of a successful week! We are so happy for the connections our students have made and the fun they’ve shared. Please see the final updates, below.

Grade 9

Today grade 9 students had several activities taking on rival Houses. The first was led by Dr. Long and activities required students to hone skills including physical, intellectual, creative, problem-solving, and of course teamwork. Lunch was a well-received pizza party!

This afternoon the students completed a ‘gratitude’ activity in their Advisory classes where they created a ‘thank you’ for someone in the SSIS staff who has helped to make the Week Without Walls possible. The creative thank-you ranged from origami flower bouquets, a rap, and a song involving musicians and singers. We finished our Week Without Walls with a student-led dance party.

Grade 10

Our Grade 10 students woke up early to begin the journey back to SSIS from Ninh Binh. Their final evening yesterday was full of reflection and appreciation for the learning opportunities throughout their trip. Many are already looking forward to their WWW experience next year, a true sign of a successful trip!

Grade 11

The Grade 11 class thoroughly enjoyed their time in Ho Tram and were especially moved by the gratitude of the community. It was a short, but incredibly valuable time. The class made their way back to SSIS this afternoon and are hopefully ready to share their takeaways and experiences with their families.

Grade 12

The Senior class completed their week of dedication to Academic Excellence and Sense of Self as they engage in university application writing and building relationships with each other. A surprise “Master Chef” event was great practice for university life, and we have several impressive chefs (congrats Hydra to the win!). The Week Without Bells concluded with bowling, to celebrate all the great work they’ve done this week to prepare a pathway for university admission.
