MS / HS Annual Career Fair, Looking for Volunteers

31

Dear Parents and potential Volunteers,

The High School at Saigon South International School along with our Middle School is organizing our 2nd annual Career Fair. Thank you to all who volunteered last year. We had nothing but positive feedback from students, teachers and parents and we hope you will join us again this year!

For those who are new to our community or did not have time in your schedule last year but would be interested in joining us this year we would love to have you! Our aim is to provide a platform whereby students can begin discovering their potential career paths. This will assist them in making better informed course choices and will support them to identify possible college majors.

The program will provide an opportunity for community/parent volunteers to meet our high school and 8th grade students and share their various career experiences. We are writing to you with the hope that you would consider volunteering to represent your industry or career field. The following are the details of the Career Fair and our expectations for volunteers.

Date of event: April 13, 2014
Time: 9:10 am-10:55 am Presentations
Venue: SSIS HS classrooms

Expectations for Volunteer presenters:

  1. Be prepared to speak about:
  2. Subjects or courses relevant to your field
  3. Character traits that are helpful to your job
  4. A typical work day
  5. Career path and advancement possibilities
  6. Rewarding and challenging aspects of your career
  7. What you studied in college

Suggestions:

  1. Provide a visual aid such as photos, video, pamphlets, Power Point etc. (projectors will be available to all classrooms)

We are committed to the success of our high school students and with your support the Career Fair will give our students an excellent head start in planning for their future career paths. If you are willing to participate as a volunteer, please email Erin Hawken, ehawken@ssis.edu.vn, by 16 March 2015.

Thank you for your consideration. We greatly appreciate your support!
