SSIS Head of School letter: Preparation for Summer Construction gets Underway in April

    142

    Dear SSIS Parents,

Welcome to the last quarter of the school year! I hope that all of our SSIS families had a restful and relaxing week and are ready for the challenges and rewards that these few months will bring. It has been a very positive school year to date, and l hope that we can encourage and support each other and our SSIS community to a strong finish.

This summer, SSIS will undergo construction to several areas of its school facilities. When you come on campus, you can expect to see the preparation for summer construction beginning.

The Sino Pacific Construction Consultancy Co. Ltd (SPCC) has been contracted to complete the work and the company is well aware that safety of the SSIS community is the priority. Expectations for community safety have been written into the contract. On April 11, there will be a commencement ceremony, after which, preparation for summer construction will begin.

Details of the Preparation and the Construction
The construction plan for summer 2019 includes three separate building areas. The ES will receive 6 new classrooms and a common space located above the Auditorium. The MS will receive 3 new classrooms and a common space above the cafeteria on fourth floor. The HS will receive 2 new large classrooms above the HS gym (one of which will be a music room). These additions are expected to be ready for use in August 2019.

Scaffolding, new access points for construction vehicles and crew, and new parking areas for construction vehicles will be visible during construction.  Access and parking for students, parents, and staff will be clearly marked. There will be extra security guards on campus during construction to provide direction and to ensure safety during times of high traffic flow. You too can help with ensuring the safety of our students by wearing your school ID at all times. We will be strictly enforcing the “No ID, No Entry” rule.

SPCC will have an onsite construction area that contains a manager’s office, portable toilets for construction workers, holding materials, and additional security guards. SPCC will also abide by the school policy to not allow smoking on campus; construction workers will leave the campus to smoke. SPCC and SSIS Administration are committed to not allowing noise and construction work to interfere with programs during the school day.

Thank you for your understanding of any inconvenience during this construction period. If you have any question, concern or recommendation during the construction projects, please do not hesitate to contact me at hos@ssis.edu.vn. We greatly appreciate your cooperation.

    All good wishes,
    Dr. Catriona Moran
