The first day of school is Tuesday, August 6th which is orientation day and it is required for all students to attend. All students are required to wear their school uniform on orientation day. There are a number of activities on campus happening at different times depending on your grade level at SSIS. Students will fall into one of the three categories below.
- All 9th graders come to school from 8:00am to 2:00pm on August 6th in the HS gym. We have a number of activities planned to help transition our 9th graders successfully to HS. This event hosts a large numbers of students, so parents are not invited to attend the Dragon Crew activities from 8:00 to 12:00pm. However, 9th grade parents new to SSIS in the 2019-20 school year are required to attend the New to SSIS Orientation Program in the HS MPR from 9:00 to 10:00am. Our Dragon Crew student leaders and advisors will work with the 9th graders from 8:00am to 12:00pm, then they will join the remainder of the students from 12:00 to 2:00 pm for an assembly and advisory activities. Grade 9 students, please bring 120,000 VND to buy your HS House League t-shirt. You will be wearing this t-shirt later in the day. You will be joining one of our dragon houses (Hydra, Naga, Shenlong or Wyvern). All grade 9 students will receive an email before Tuesday from your Dragon Crew Leaders and House Captains. Lunch will be provided for the students.
- All new SSIS 10-12th grade students in the 2019-20 school year need to attend a New to SSIS Orientation Program in the HS Gym from 8:00-12:00pm. During the morning you will also attend the new parent orientation presentation in the HS MPR from 9:00am to 10:00am (parents are required to attend). These students will then join the remainder of the students from 12:00 to 2:00 pm for an assembly and advisory activities. Grade students to SSIS, please bring 120,000 VND to buy your HS House League t-shirt. You will be wearing this t-shirt later in the day. You will be joining one of our dragon houses (Hydra, Naga, Shenlong or Wyvern). All new grade 10-12 students will receive an email from their House Captains before Tuesday. Lunch will be provided for the students.
- All returning 10-12th grade students need to attend school from 12:00 to 2:00pm in the HS gym for an assembly and other advisory activities. House Captains will email students before Tuesday with more information.
All students and parents are encouraged to come to school before and/or after these events to finalize any busing requests, buy school uniforms, put money into cafeteria accounts and to update PowerSchool parent information.
All 9th and 10th grade students need to provide the HS Office with a copy of their passport and visa in order to attend our WWW program in the middle of September.
We have a new bell schedule and rotation in the HS. Additionally, here is the special HS bell schedule for August 7th when students see all eight of their teachers and their advisor.
