Dear Parents of SSIS,
My name is Sophia Woo, and I am the President of the Parent Teacher Association (“PTA”) of Saigon South International School (“SSIS”). I would like to welcome new parents and extend a welcome back to all returning parents. I am so happy to have met some of you on campus, and I hope to meet more of you in the coming weeks!
As PTA plans to make our community the main focus for the year 2022-23, I would like to take this opportunity to highlight two events this Friday, August 12, 2022.
Welcome Parent Meeting, August 12
This Friday, August 12, 2022, 8:15 am-10 am at SSIS’ Auditorium we will host the biggest annual meeting for all existing and new parents. Join this meeting to find out about all the exciting events we have planned for you and your children this year and learn more about what the SSIS PTA is all about its mission and goals. This is a great opportunity to meet other parents.
New Parent Welcome Series, August 12 – 26
The PTA is hosting a 3-part series to introduce new parents to Phu My Hung, SSIS, and Ho Chi Minh City. (Returning parents are invited too!)
Part 1. Phu My Hung Tour
August 12th, 2022, 10:00 -11:30 am (right after the Welcome Parent Meeting, departing from/returning to SSIS Parking Area)
Join us for a guided bus tour around Phu My Hung in District 7. We will highlight some of our favorite supermarkets, stationery stores, and medical clinics and share where to get passport photos and notary services. Don’t miss this fun and informative trip around the neighborhood! Note: This tour will commence immediately after the Welcome Parent Meeting so interested parents can walk to the bus together after the meeting.
Part 2. SSIS Tour
August 19th, 2022, 8:15 – 10:15 am (SSIS)
Do you feel like you may need a refresher class on how to navigate through the different apps used by parents at SSIS? Still a bit confused on the whereabouts of the classrooms and gyms at SSIS? Want to know what are the food choices for your children’s lunch at SSIS?
Please join us on a tour around SSIS where both new and existing parents can get answers to those questions! The tour also includes a chance for parents to buy a school lunch at the school’s canteen-a rare opportunity!
Part 3. Ho Chi Minh City Tour
August 26th, 2022, 8:15 am-1:30 pm (bus departs from/returns at SSIS Parking)
In this tour, we will explore different types of markets in HCMC (local wet market, stores with a huge variety of imported food items, and even a large baking supplies store). The trip will conclude with lunch in District 1. This is an eye-opening experience that’s not to be missed!
I hope you will take advantage of these tours that PTA parent volunteers have planned for you. Please register for these events by completing THIS SIGN-UP FORM at least 2 days prior to the event as we need to book buses.
I hope to see all of you at the Welcome Parent Meeting this Friday morning where we will further discuss these new exciting events and many more.
