    Dear SSIS Parents,

Today I have several exciting updates to share with you. From the historic MRISA event taking place on our campus as I write this, to the first-ever video walkthrough of our new facilities, and more. I encourage you to take a moment to celebrate some of the many wonderful things happening at SSIS!

    MRISA
This morning we welcomed nearly 250 athletes from around Southeast Asia to the first-ever double MRISA (Mekong River International Schools Association) tournament. Teams from four countries are now gathered on our campus for the event that will run through Saturday. With our support, our impressive Dragon athletes will no doubt reach their greatest heights. So please come and enjoy the vibrant energy and cheer on our Sr. Volleyball and Jr. Basketball teams! You can see the full MRISA schedule here.

Students cheer on SSIS MRISA athletes at this morning’s Welcome Parade.

    New Facilities Walkthrough
Also, I’m delighted to share another first-ever with you: the first-ever walkthrough of the facilities that will bring nearly 18,000 sq. meters of additional top-tier opportunities to your children. The spacious modern interiors of the new Middle School and new STEAM/Design Center emphasize natural materials and light and have been developed to inspire collaboration and innovation. As we approach completion in 2024, some small details may shift. However, this video showcases the overall experience you can expect.

    Construction Partners
I’m pleased to announce that our recent groundbreaking ceremony, the official start of construction, which was attended by our primary contractors: Vicons, Sino-Pacific Construction Consultancy (SPCC), and Phu My Hung, was very successful! There are several companies that will work to realize these beautiful buildings. Below you will find the contractors associated with this project.

    Site Construction Safety Committee
Safety is a crucial component of our building project. We feel that it is important that our parents are a part of this work, and would like to extend an invitation to join our SSIS Site Construction Safety Committee, led by SSIS Facility Manager Michelle Marcelo.

The committee will meet regularly to monitor and report any potential construction safety concerns and develop solutions as needed to ensure the continued safety of our community. You will receive a separate invitation from Ms. Marcelo to join this committee.

The construction of our new facilities officially commenced with the Groundbreaking Ceremony on October 17.

    December Head of School Coffees
To close out the end of the semester, and share details of what’s in store for 2023, including our building project, I would like to invite you to attend my Head of School Coffee where I will also address any questions you may have for me. For parents who would like to attend the coffee in one of our majority languages, please find the dates below. You will receive a form within the next few weeks to submit your questions.

    25th Year Anniversary Gala
As we look forward with anticipation and excitement, we also take pride in looking back, particularly this year, as we celebrate our 25th Anniversary.

On that note, I am pleased to share that on March 4, 2023, we will hold a 25th Anniversary Gala to mark this momentous occasion. More details will follow soon.

In closing, I want to thank you for choosing to be a part of our wonderful and vibrant community and entrusting us with the care and education of your child. It is truly our greatest honor as educators to support your children’s growth and development as global citizens leading purposeful lives.

    All best wishes,
