Grade 9

Starting their day in the high school gym, Grade 9 students participated in a team-building activity together with faculty and Dr. Moran, which brought a lot of laughter and smiles. Later, students headed out into Phu My Hung, and each advisory filmed footage for the movie trailer they edited in the afternoon. Once again gathering in the high school gym, they voted for the best trailer.

Grade 10

Our Grade 10 students experienced a day of challenge both physically and mentally. Two groups of students rotated through various activities. The stand-up paddle board lessons were apparently an absolute hit, challenging students and making for a lot of fun. Another group spent the day learning about permaculture and sustainability at “La Library”. Putting their learning into action, they later made paint out of natural materials which they used to paint one of the buildings onsite.

Grade 11

The Grade 11 class departed for Ho Tram this morning, ready to demonstrate their Dedication to Service with the impressive number of books that they have brought along to donate. The book drive has been taking place for the past two weeks at SSIS and it is wonderful to see their efforts have a real benefit on the lives of others. As they arrived, students were divided into two groups, one will begin working with the local school to construct a playground and build shelving for the books in the library. The other will move off to the campsite and engage in some fun team building and outdoor recreation.

Grade 12

The Senior class continued their week of dedication to Academic Excellence and Sense of Self, learning more about university options and pathways. In addition, 18 universities set up a mini-fair in the high school library and held small-group sessions giving students a quiet and calm environment to ask their specific questions even before they head off to the big university fair tomorrow.
