[UPDATE] If you missed the HS Curriculum Night, you can find a recording of the Principal’s Welcome Video here.

Our school year is well underway and students are feeling excited to be back on campus with their classmates and teachers. An important part of kicking-off the school year is Curriculum Night. This year, as parents are not permitted on campus, please mark your calendars for our virtual High School Curriculum Night on Thursday, September 3 at 6:00 pm. It will consist of both synchronous and asynchronous portions.

What to Expect

Our virtual Curriculum Night will ensure that we all start the year with the same information. It is an opportunity for parents and students to:

  • Meet each teacher
  • Learn about each course
  • View curriculum resources
  • Learn how to contact the teacher

Curriculum Night Online: Two parts

Curriculum Night will consist of two parts: a welcome and introduction by High School Principal, Ms. Jennifer Mendes, and video overviews of your child’s advisory and courses by high school teachers.

To ensure that you will be able to access the courses and the teacher videos, please make sure that you have access to PowerSchool Learning in advance of the event. Should you have any problems, please contact powerschool@ssis.edu.vn.

Part I-Synchronous: Welcome & Introduction by Ms. Jennifer Mendes, High School Principal

The first part of our virtual Curriculum Night is a virtual assembly that will be hosted on Zoom. We will start promptly at 6:00 pm on Thursday, September 3. Please “arrive” online on time. During this meeting you will learn how to access the information prepared by your child’s advisory teacher as well as each of their academic classes. You will also learn how PowerSchool Learning (PLS) supports and guides students during their learning journey at SSIS.

Part II-Asynchronous: Introduction & Overview of Advisory and Courses by High School Teachers

On Thursday, September 3, you will also be able to access the informational videos from your child’s teachers, on their PowerSchool Learning pages. These videos will be available until September 17 for you to access and view. In addition to the videos, parents are encouraged to further familiarize themselves with their child’s courses by viewing the syllabus, learning resources, current assignments, and their due dates all found on each teachers’ virtual classroom in PowerSchool Learning. You will find each teacher’s email address on their PowerSchool Learning landing page and can follow up directly with them if you have questions.

How to Attend Virtual Curriculum Night

On Thursday, September 3 at 2:00 pm, you will be sent an email with the links to the Zoom meeting, as well as written instructions helping you to access the Curriculum Night information created by your child’s teachers.

I am excited to welcome you into our virtual classrooms so that you may get a feel for your child’s experience as a High School student at SSIS.

Sincerely,

Ms. Jennifer Mendes

High School Principal
